При разкопките в крепостта "Кастрици" и през тази година са открити монети на мамелюшките султани от Египет, разказа в интервю за БТА след приключването на археологическия сезон през тази година в крепостта ръководителят на разкопките проф. Валентин Плетньов.
Археологическият обект се намира на територията на правителствената резиденция "Евксиноград", а за радост на археолозите тя се охранява сериозно от близо 120 години и тук няма иманярски набези.
„По този начин в "Кастрици" намираме това, което е рухнало и останало на място, и проучваме един средновековен град, който е много добре запазен, разказа археологът. Професорът каза, че се надява след реставрациите, които трябва да привършат тази година по програма на МС, част от крепостта да бъде експонирана, социализирана, за да може да бъде посещавана от туристите“, разказва Плетньов.
Това е уникален за българската археология град, защото е от малкото крепости по Черноморието, която е много добре запазена и върху нея няма съвременно строителство, обясни Плетньов. През последните 10 години е изследвана повече от половината от крепостта, която е с площ от 15 декара. Разкрити са площади, улици, две църкви, гъсто застроени сгради по двете страни на улиците, някои от тях залепени за крепостната стена, с градостроене, характерно за Средновековието.
„През тази година сме с много малък екип и малко финансиране от Министерството на културата, но все пак трябва да благодаря. С 15 000 лева направихме проучване на един малък средновековен квартал между крепостната стена, Главната порта на крепостта и северната крепостна улица. Археологическите работи обхванаха площ от 600 кв.метра. Проучени са осем сгради. Те са много добре запазени с височина на стените до два метра, с подови нива, пещи в тях, многоброен керамичен и монетен материал. Дни преди края на разкопките рядко срещан процесиен кръст, който е носен като хоругва с много добре изписан надпис на гръцки“.
Намерена е била и икона, вероятно сребърна, с изображение на Богородица, както и многоброен монетен материал. Сред откритите са монети на българските царе Константин Тих Асен, Тодор Светослав, Михаил Шишман, сребърни монети на Иван Александър с Михаил, монети на Иван Шишман. Освен това са намерени няколко монети на влашките войводи като Мирчо Стари, татарски монети, венециански солдини.
Това показва усилената търговия, която се е водила в крепостта, с многобройни търговци и пътници, които носят в себе си дребните (стотинки) от градовете, откъдето са минали, обясни археологът. Тази година за пореден път са намерени монети на мамелюшките султани от Египет.
Това е една куманска династия, която успява да създаде своя държава в Египет през 14 - началото на 15 век. Тези монети са носени от пътуващи търговците по Черноморието.
Между крепостните стени на "Кастрици" са откривани и доста златни монети, но през тази година за съжаление няма такава находка.
