Източните членки на НАТО ще се обединят, за да засилят натиска върху военния алианс да изгради постоянни бази в техните страни на фона на опасенията за повишената руската агресия в региона, съобщава Financial Times.
Държави по източната граница на Алианса, простираща се от Естония на север до България на юг, ще се срещнат в началото на ноември, съобщи приближен до полския президент. Това е и първият признак за конкретни действия от страна на източноевропейските държави по отношение лобирането за засилване на присъствието на НАТО, пише изданието.
Полша отдавна настоява за постоянни бази на нейна територия. Новият президент Анджей Дуда дори постави в центъра на мандата си засилването на присъствието на военния алианс в страната.
Някои западни държави обаче, като например Германия, се противопоставят на идеята за разширяване на присъствието на НАТО на изток заради опасенията, че това ще влоши и без това обтегнатите отношения между Европа и Русия.
Дуда коментира пред изданието през миналия месец, че НАТО не трябва да се отнася към Полша като към “буферна зона”. Полският президент ще бъде домакин на среща на върха на НАТО през следващата година, когато се очаква предложението за постоянни бази на Алианса в Източна Европа да е основната обсъждана тема.
Лидери от Естония, Латвия, Литва, Полша, Чехия, Словакия, Унгария, България и Румъния ще се съберат на среща на върха в Букурещ, която ще се проведе на 3 и 4 ноември, съобщи главният съветник на Дуда за външната политика.
Същевременно кабинетът на полския президент обяви, че първото му официално посещение ще бъде в Естония и ще се състои на 23 август – символична дата, на която се отбелязва 76-та годишнина от подписването на пакта Молотов-Рибентроп между нацистка Германия и Съветския съюз.
Полша и Балтийските държави са най-гласовитите критици на анексирането на Крим от Русияи действията на Москва в конфликта в източната част на Украйна. Те настояват НАТО да даде по-стабилен отговор и да успокои страховете на членките на Алианса в региона.
През юни американските военни каза, че обмисля план за съхраняване на военна техника в Източна Европа, въпреки твърденията на Германия, че това ще наруши договора с Русия от 1997 г. Според Варшава обаче това споразумение е спорно, като се имат предвид действията на Русия в Украйна и в Грузия от 2008 г.
На 28 август Анджей Дуда ще се срещне и с германския канцлер Ангела Меркел, като вероятно ще се опита да смекчи позицията на Германия. Предстои му и визита във Великобритания, както и присъствие на Общото събрание на ООН в Ню Йорк през септември.
